Principal photography on Verdict wrapped on September 4, 2026, moving Egbe Creative's first Englishtown production into post-production. Written and directed by Raheem Ivey and produced by Miriam Adeke, Verdict is Act One of the pilot for ENGLISHTOWN, the television series Ivey has developed across a body of unpublished novels — a story of a fictional Atlanta neighborhood navigating a rapidly changing world while fighting to conquer its own demons.
The short takes place almost entirely inside the Queen's Delight Hair Salon, Englishtown's headquarters of fly looks and all the gossip you can handle. Prentiss owns the shop, but Rasheedah is the resident genius — folks wait weeks for an appointment with her only partially because of her styling skills. When Ebony, an old friend of Prentiss and Rasheedah's, returns to Englishtown after time at an Ivy League college and a career in New York, she isn't looking for a reunion. She's looking for help starting a revolution — and Rasheedah is left to deliver the verdict.
The production brought back Contessa Grant as Rasheedah and Jordan B. Hood as Prentiss, joined by Carina Morris as Ebony. Rounding out the principal cast is Jonathan Patton as Red, previously unconfirmed at the time of Verdict's casting announcement.
With photography complete, Verdict now enters post-production. Further details on release plans will follow as they're confirmed.
